Bodacious Soft Baked Peanut Butter Dog Treat Recipe
A few days ago, I created a new, homemade dog treat recipe. Well, sort of. To back up a bit, a sweet pup, who has been a part of our Bodacious Community since day one, had major oral surgery. She had quite a few teeth extracted. On her road to recovery, it was discovered that she was no longer able to enjoy our original Bodacious Biscuit Love Peanut Butter Dog Treats. They're too crunchy. When we heard about this, we were heartbroken.
We had to do something.
Our original recipe, without the drying time, was still too hard. I needed to alter the recipe so the finished product was similar to a combination of a soft baked sugar cookie and day old bakery bread.
I know. That combination sounds odd, but when I thought about the consistency I wanted, that's what I came up with as a comparison.
The big question lingered in my head for about a day. How do I transform our original peanut butter treats into soft baked without altering the recipe too much?
After all was said and done, the solution was quite simple. Add eggs and decrease the amount of water.
Seriously, that was it.
The finished product came out nice and soft. They smell and taste like our original peanut butter treats. They're just thicker and soft.
Our fur-kids loved 'em. Best of all, the sweet pup who was our inspiration loves 'em too! And she can eat them without any problem!
