The First Extra Large Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilt...And It Was Purely By Accident
A few days ago, we made our first "girly" quilt. Today, we had another Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilt "first." This time around, it had nothing to do with the color. It had everything to do with the size. Yep, we made our first extra large quilt. It measured in at 42 inches wide and 56 inches long. And, it was purely by accident.
This quilt came out huge. That wasn't planned. For the large quilts, I usually do 5 large squares across and 7 down. When sketching out the design, I had a total dork moment. I ended up with 6 squares across and 8 down. Even when cutting out the squares and sewing, I didn't realize just how big this Bodacious Patchwork Doggy Quilt was going to be.
In the process of measuring the quilt batting and the fabric for the back of the quilt, I needed Lisa's assistance. I've never needed help laying out a quilt. Almost at the same time, we made a comment about how big the quilt was.
That's when it hit me.
I looked at the notes scribbled on my templates. Yep. I added 2 extra rows. At this point, we decided to go with it. Our first extra large quilt.
Once posted, it sold in under 20 minutes.
We probably won't be making many quilts this size unless by special request.
I say that now, but you never know...
