I spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen today, but it wasn't spent baking dozens upon dozens of homemade dog treats. Instead, we honored a tradition that we started 4 years ago. I blocked off most of the afternoon to make decadent Valentine's Day treats for the "hoomans" and the pups. Although Lisa and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day in the traditional sense, we like to take this day to extend a lil' extra love and gratitude.
We dipped strawberries in milk chocolate for the "hoomans" and a peanut butter, white chip mixture for the pups.
Every once in a while we DO make baked goods that are NOT pup friendly. That was the case today. I made chocolate cupcakes with a buttercream frosting infused with vanilla and strawberries. All homemade.
After spending about 15 minutes in the refrigerator, I drizzled the frosted cupcakes with melted chocolate and topped with a chocolate covered strawberry.
I also made a few pup friendly versions of my cupcakes along with the pup friendly dipped strawberries. I bagged up some of our Cranberry Crumble Valentine's Day Sandwich Cookies. For the pups who have sensitive tummies, they received our original Bodacious Biscuit Love Peanut Butter Dog Treats drizzled with a bit of melted white chip and peanut butter and festive sprinkles.
At the end of the day, the "hoomans" and pups enjoyed their treats.
That made our day.
From our home to yours, Happy Valentine's Day. Spread a little love. Today. Tomorrow. Every single day. The world needs more of that.
