The Recipe For Our Barkin' Blueberry Crumble Dog Treats

I've been on a fresh fruit kick for the past couple of weeks with our Bodacious Carrot Cake Cookie dog treats and Bodacious Apple Pie Dog Treats. I had every intention of creating another homemade dog treat recipe using fresh fruit, however, we found a great deal on dehydrated blueberries over the weekend. That shifted my focus a little and inspired me to create a peanut butter free, soft baked blueberry biscuit.

That's exactly what happened. While baking, the house smelled amazing! We gave our fur-kids a taste for their afternoon snack and they all gave a paws up!

In a mixer or bowl combine the following...

2 cups flour
3/4 cup whole dried blueberries
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk (you can use water if your pup/s are dairy sensitive)
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder

Mix well. If your dough is too dry, add a few splashes of warm water. If too sticky, add another pinch or two of flour.

When handling the dough, you'll want to flour your hands as this dough is a little sticky. Make sure to flour your counter really well.

Roll the dough to about 1/4 inch. You'll have to lightly flour the top of the dough while rolling. Use a cookie cutter of choice. The dough can be worked and rolled as many times as needed until you run out.

Bake at 350 for 22 minutes. You'll want to use a non-stick cookie sheet, line your baking sheet with non-stick foil, or use a little non-stick spray. If you don't have any of those, make sure to remove the biscuits from the cookie sheet immediately after baking.

The blueberries get a little juicy when baking and some of the biscuits will stick.

Once the biscuits are cooled, put in an airtight container or Ziploc style bag.

On a side note, we'd like to thank our Bodacious Community and beyond for helping us give these scrumptious biscuits a name. We took the ideas from Pam E. and Jane G. and combined their suggestions!

Enjoy and happy baking!
