Here's The Recipe For Our Bodacious Apple Pie Dog Treats

Most of our Bodacious Dog Treat recipes are made with peanut butter. We're working hard to create recipes that are peanut butter free. A few days ago, we did just that. Our inspiration behind this week's recipe was a simple apple. Since creating last week's Bodacious Carrot Cake Cookie recipe, I've been focusing more on using fresh fruits and vegetables instead of dehydrated. After a couple of tries, we came up with a scrumptious recipe for Bodacious Apple Pie Biscuits. They're made with simple ingredients and are super easy to make.

In a bowl or mixer, combine the following...

1 medium apple, peeled, cored and grated
1 egg
3/4 cups oats
2 cups flour
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 - 3/4 cup hot water (start with 1/2 and add more if needed)

Mix well. When handling the dough, you'll want to flour your hands as this dough is a bit sticky. Make sure to flour your counter really well.

Roll the dough to the thickness of pie crust. You'll have to flour the top of the dough while rolling.

Use a cookie cutter of choice. The dough can be worked and rolled as many times as needed until you run out.

Bake at 350 for 22 minutes.

Once cooled, they'll harden to a nice firm crisp if left out for about 24 hours.

If you'd like the soft baked version, roll the dough a little thicker to about 1/4 an inch. After baking, allow to cool and then put biscuits in an airtight container or Ziploc style bag.

Happy baking!

  1. I just made these. They look amazing. I did need to use about 1/2 cup more flour than the recipe called for and only a 1/2 cup of water, it may have to do with the type of apple you use and how juicy it is. I used a granny smith. My dogs love them & are anxiously looking for more.

    1. I hope your pup/s enjoyed these biscuits! I used a Gala apple and it wasn't that juicy. I also used a small egg. Most times, I have to add an extra splash of water or sprinkle of flour to get the dough just right.

I'll be posting a new recipe every week so keep checking back! Hugs and love!
