I always feel like a broken record when I say, "It's been a crazy, busy week." The majority of our weeks are very busy. Sometimes, it gets crazy, busy. It doesn't matter how well I plan for the week, things come up. It's a given. Since launching Bodacious Biscuit Love over 3 years ago, I expect the upcoming week to not go as planned. This week has been no exception.
Earlier today, I took a break from work stuff, made a fresh cup of coffee, and scrolled through my social feeds. More often than not, something always catches my attention.
Today, a beautiful member of our Bodacious Community, Lisa, shared a GoFundMe link on her wall. Funds were being raised for a homeless man and his dog. Dave and Dora. Accompanying the post was this...
“To my Seymour peeps, this is the guy who walks by Tri-Town Plaza daily! He stops at Dunkin every morning around 715-730ish! He is a really nice guy who loves his dog and doesn't want to give her up. I've helped him out for the past couple of weeks, when I stop at D and D.... so if you see him, stop, he'll talk to you, he's extremely gracious and appreciative!!”
I immediately replied to her post. I asked Lisa, “If we shipped a box of biscuit love to you, would you deliver it to Dave and Dora?” She immediately said YES!
I wasn't sure how many bags of biscuit love we had available. We spent over 8 hours baking biscuits on Sunday. By the end of the day, our biscuit trays were filled. However, over the past couple of days, we've donated bags of biscuits to a few pet parents in need, restocked our display, and we shipped a box of holiday biscuit love to a sweet pup who was recently diagnosed with aggressive cancer.
We were running low.
Like always, we made it work. This afternoon we shipped a huge bodacious box filled with biscuit love, 2 doggy blankets, a new winter coat for Dora, a holiday ornament, plush toys, a portable water bottle/bowl, and a t-shirt for Dave.
I have no shame in admitting, the entire time spent on packaging up this huge box of goodies, I had tears in my eyes. Happy tears. I was beyond grateful that Lisa was more than willing to help us out and we had the items available in our Bodacious Biscuit Love Room and our Bodacious Biscuit Love Bin to fill the box.
When you purchase bags of biscuits and, more recently, our Bodacious Holiday Ornaments, THIS is what the funds are used for. To purchase ingredients for biscuits, to purchase supplies so our Bodacious Biscuit Love Bin remains stocked, cover shipping costs, and to purchase blankets, jackets, toys, and other much needed items for our local animal shelters and pet parents who have fallen on hard times.
Keeping our Bodacious Biscuit Love Room and Bin stocked is no small feat. It gets expensive. This is why we have plans on expanding and will be offering more than just homemade dog treats.
You'll see more of this in 2017.
All of this is possible because of YOU. And YOU. And YOU. I can’t even begin to tell you how incredible it is to step foot in our biscuit room and have our shelves, bin, and biscuit table stocked so we can fill bags and boxes when needed.
Great things are done by a series of small things brought together. We are beyond grateful for the love and support of our Bodacious Community!
If you could take a few seconds to read Dave and Dora’s story, please do. It’s tugging at our heartstrings. We will continue to send Dave and Dora biscuit love and help out any way we can. If you could do the same, anything and everything is appreciated more than you know.
