Take The Time To Make Homemade Pound Cake
In our Bodacious household, one of our favorite summertime desserts is strawberry shortcake. I know we're not alone. Over the years, I have come to notice that people enjoy this dessert in many variations. Some use biscuits. Others use angel food cake. The preparation of the strawberries varries too along with the preference of vanilla ice cream and whipped topping...or both. Either way, this dessert is refreshing and delicious!
Our preferred combination is pound cake, fresh macerated strawberries and whipped cream.
We're not the only ones who love this dessert. Our fur-kids love it too. This is definitely a dessert we can share with the babies. They savor every little nibble.
Two of our fur-kids have very sensitive tummies. Buying a store-bought pound cake made with ingredients we can't pronounce is not an option. So, when the mood strikes for a serving of strawberry shortcake, I whip up a batch of homemade pound cake. It requires a little effort, but it's worth it.
Very. Very. Worth it.
Although I've tried several other recipes for pound cake, both traditional and flavored, I always revert back to the one I've been making for many years. It holds up well with your choice of toppings and is just as scrumptious eaten plain with a cup of coffee.
A single batch makes 2 regular sized loaves. We keep some for ourselves and share the rest with our neighbor friends.
If you want to try your hand at making homemade pound cake, I shared the recipe right here. Happy baking and enjoy!
