The Bodacious Biscuit Love Evolution - The Not-So-Etched-In-Granite Conclusion

If you're just tuning in, the past few posts have been about evolution and changes that we're embarking on. You can read the original post here. After almost 3 years of spreading the biscuit love, and doing everything else that we do, we're making some much needed changes. Change, for the most part, is good. These changes, for us, are positive and long overdue. The inspiration behind these changes were brought on by lots of good stuff and some not-so-good stuff. After weeks of putting everything on the table, dissecting what we do and what we've done, and a whole bunch of other stuff, we're giving Bodacious Biscuit Love a bit of a makeover in most areas.

Part Two Of The Bodacious Biscuit Love Evolution - The Not So Good Stuff

The theme for the past week has been evolution. If you missed the first 2 posts about that, you can catch up here and here. The other day, the focus was on all the good stuff that's happened over the past few years with Bodacious Biscuit Love. The good stuff trumps, what I call, the uncomfortable, not-so-good stuff. However, the good is is always accompanied with scattered things that are not-so-good and "teeters on being exceptionally frustrating, stressful and maddening." We've experienced some of this over the past few years. This post is going to address some of that. Honest. Upfront. In the raw.

Part One Of The Bodacious Biscuit Love Evolution - The Good Stuff

A few days ago, I wrote a post about our decision to make more changes. You can read about that here. After almost 3 years since the launch of Bodacious Biscuit Love, we decided that it's time to make some changes and to shift our focus. Although we've made some changes along the way, it's time to make a serious overhaul. Change is good. This is good. Evolution is great.

Just In Case You Missed It, Here's The Recipe For Our Bodacious Biscuit Love Peanut Butter Dog Treats

In the past couple of weeks, some "hoomans" have reached out to us asking where the recipe is for our Bodacious Biscuit Love Peanut Butter Dog Treat Recipe. They remembered reading a post mentioning that we were going to share this recipe. Not only did we share this recipe, we've shared most of our other recipes too. Some of the flavors we had offered in the past. There will be new recipes added as time goes on. Our goal is to create dozens of scrumptious dog treat recipes that are easy to make with simple ingredients.

We Are Making More Changes. It's All About Evolution.

As of late, I have been embracing and focusing on the word "evolution." By definition, the term evolution simply means growth, development and, pieced together, it's a "gradual, peaceful, and progressive change or development." Bodacious Biscuit Love is nearing its 3 year anniversary. It's been quite the journey and, despite the myriad of learning experiences, we've loved every minute of it. Through trial and error, we've lived and learned. Periodically, along the way, we've made changes, both big and small, to accommodate that.

And What About The Drizzle Of Sweet Swizzle?

Since we published the recipe for our homemade Bodacious Biscuit Love Peanut Butter Dog Treats, a few people have reached out to ask about the "swizzle." Everyone loves the sweet, delicious drizzle of swizzle. I have no shame in admitting, we do too. A lot. It's addicting. It changes everything. And, when you throw on a few festive sprinkles, it gets even better.

Got An Abundance Of Zucchini? Shred! Shred! Shred!

For the past 4 years, we have successfully had a Porch of Produce. In the spring, we plant peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and summer squash in containers...on our porch. Between that, Farmers Markets, and our generous neighbors sharing the bounty of their summer gardens, we've had an abundance of fresh summer produce. We enjoy it. Our fur-kids enjoy it. At the end of the summer season, we always have extra zucchini and tomatoes.

Consult Your Veterinarian First. Always.

We're not even a month into the summer season and I've already seen a handful of graphic images. These images are of pups and kitties who have had severe allergic reactions to home remedy flea and tick preventatives. These home remedies have ranged from Dawn dish soap to essential oils. Some have even included cheap knock-offs of popular flea and tick preventatives. I cringe when I see the images of burns, hair loss, skin infections, etc.

Take The Time To Make Homemade Pound Cake

In our Bodacious household, one of our favorite summertime desserts is strawberry shortcake. I know we're not alone. Over the years, I have come to notice that people enjoy this dessert in many variations. Some use biscuits. Others use angel food cake. The preparation of the strawberries varries too along with the preference of vanilla ice cream and whipped topping...or both. Either way, this dessert is refreshing and delicious!

Be Aware Of The Water Your Pup Is Swimming In

A few days ago, on the Danbury Animal Welfare Society Facebook page, I noticed a post announcing that the New Fairfield Beach was closed due to the presence of blue-green algae. This particular algae is harmful to both "hoomans" and pups because of a toxin it releases. These toxins can affect the liver and kidneys and can cause skin, eye and respiratory irritation. If you or your pup ingests blue-green algae, you may experience vomiting and diarrhea. It's a nasty algae all the way around.

Our First Heatwave Of The Season?

Temperatures reached close to 100 yesterday. It's a scorcher today. It won't be any better tomorrow. During the summer months, it's SO important to keep your pups cool and hydrated, however, when Mother Nature doles out a heatwave, you need to take extra precautions. Like with us, dogs can overheat and suffer from heatstroke as well and that can happen in a relatively short period of time.

Here's The Recipe For Our Pup & Hooman Friendly Cranberry White Chip Cookies

Last year, when we had tables at various events and during our Bodacious Yard and Bake Sales, one of the "hooman" cookies we offered was Cranberry White Chip. We always sold out. It was a favorite and the most requested. And, the added bonus is that these cookies are both pup and "hooman" friendly. After people purchased a bag or two, it always brought a smile to our faces when we saw the "hoomans" give their pups a little nibble.

We Want To Wish Everyone A Bodacious Fourth of July Holiday

We're in the middle of the Fourth of July holiday weekend and we want to wish everyone a Bodacious Fourth of July. On that same note, we want to remind all of you incredible pet parents to keep your babies safe. Fourth of July is a scary and dangerous holiday for the babies and so many go missing. Please...make their safety and comfort a priority. If that means staying home, like us, so be it.

5 Reasons Why We Love And Prefer DIY

In the past couple of weeks, we've made a couple of DIY Dog Mom Projects. The first were 3 DIY Doggy Toy Boxes for our fur-kids and last week, to celebrate Sophie's Gotcha Day, I made a DIY Pup Party Hat.  Both projects were inexpensive and easy to make. Our next project is going to be a DIY mini version of a "hooman" platform bed. This project will take a few days to make, but we're super excited.
