All 3 of our fur-kids are rescue pups. They each, at their own pace, had to adjust. It took weeks. Months. It's a process requiring lots of patience and love. The majority of shelter pups are there because of neglect, abuse, and abandonment. Often times, they are rescued from nightmares. At the shelter, they have to adjust. And, once adopted, they have to adjust to that transition as well. It takes time. Some longer than others.

It's that time! Today through February 7th, you can reserve your Bodacious Valentine's Day Biscuits! This year, in addition to spreading sweet, crunchy love to our local animal shelters, we are donating 50% of the proceeds to Kenway's Cause....Smooches For Pooches!

The highlight of the week happened on Wednesday. We delivered biscuit love to the Ledyard Pound and got to meet sweet baby, Ivy. This girl is an absolute love. Ivy gobbled her biscuit love with gusto and got us all mushy gushy. Thank you to Animal Control Officer, Christina, for taking the time to visit and snap a few photos.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner. In the next week or so, we'll be offering our heart shaped biscuits to our Bodacious Community. However, until then, we're getting ready to spread some Valentine's biscuit love to our local animal shelters/dog pounds. This year, we're letting our Bodacious Community choose the shelters and pounds.

Yesterday, while the white stuff fell from the sky, we baked tray after tray after tray of biscuits. There was a little excitement in the air because finally...we have snow. With a possible storm moving in on Saturday, it's safe to say we'll be able to have a winter fun photo contest next week. We've been wanting to launch one, but with no snow so far this season...well, it just wasn't happening.

Valentine's Day is less than a month away. While there's an endless selection of dog-themed Valentine's Day items sitting on the store shelves to purchase, have you ever given thought to making your own? Whether it's a heart-shaped pet pillow or homemade dog treats in the shape of hearts, your fur-kid will be head over paws. It's all about the love.

It doesn't surprise us. In this day and age, scammers will stop at nothing to make a quick buck. They'll seep through the woodwork even when it involves a missing pet. They don't care that the pet parents are heartbroken, worried and stressed. In fact, this is what motivates them.

The majority of homemade dog treat recipes we come across have your usual, run-of-the-mill names. Peanut butter dog treats. Pumpkin dog treats. Bacon Cheese dog treats. You get where I'm going with this. The creativity is somewhat lacking. However, once in a while, we stumble across one that catches our attention.

One of the trending topics for the duration of last week was the Powerball jackpot spiking to 900 million dollars. I can count on one hand how many times Lisa and I have played the lottery. Last week was one of them. Two tickets with numbers we chose and a quick pick. Of course, like millions of other hoomans, we indulged in those "If we won the Powerball jackpot we'd...." conversations.

We have a lot of cool stuff planned for this year and one of 'em is featuring more from our Bodacious Community on our blog site. Photos. Stories. Funny stuff. Helpful hints. Tips and advice. Pet themed crafts and products. The list goes on.

Last week we launched a 'Biscuits For Bernice' fundraiser. Our goal was to raise enough money to pay for a months worth of medications for this old girl, who was recently diagnosed with Cushing's disease. We also wanted to purchase some winter essentials for Bernice. A couple of thick plush blankets. A new coat. Sweaters.

This warning started circulating via Facebook and other social networking sites last year. The first time it appeared, I lost count how many people tagged me. We received quite a few messages and emails. First and foremost, thank you. We are grateful so many people wanted to give us a head up. To this day, on occasion, we still get an email or two about this. From time to time, people have asked us personally, or the staff where we have biscuit displays, what type of peanut butter we use.

On December 30th we launched a "Biscuits For Bernice" fundraiser. This sweet girl was dumped in the town of Bethlehem mid November and is currently residing at the Bethlehem pound under the care of Animal Control Officer Judy. Bernice is an older girl and was recently diagnosed with Cushings Disease. She'll require daily medications totaling about $70 a month.
