We Had A Blast At Our Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale
I had every intention of updating our blog site yesterday...the day after our Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale. However, two things happened. The first, we were whipped. Beyond exhausted. I honestly don't know how we would have done it without the help of some rather incredible "hoomans." Despite the help, we crashed at around 9 p.m. Saturday night.
Second...between recouping, we dedicated the entire day and evening to getting our home back in order. For the past month, we've had boxes filled with yard sale items in the biscuit room and, eventually, in other rooms throughout our home. I. Hate. Clutter. When our home isn't in order, it throws off my balance. I can't focus.
The biscuit room was restored to its original state, floors were vacuumed and every room was dusted, organized, cleaned, etc. After over a month of yard sale clutter, I needed this.
In a nutshell, we had a blast on Saturday. We had a slight setback during setup. All the boxes were outside. Most of the tables were filled with yard sale stuff. Our book display had been completed. Then...a raindrop. Two. Three. We all stood there thinking, "No. Please, no." Our pleas were useless. Mother Nature dished out five minutes of moderate rain.
She must have felt bad because a gorgeous rainbow appeared towards the end. And, there was very little wind throughout the day despite the prediction for gusty winds.
Quite a few people from our Bodacious Community stopped by to visit. A few brought their sweet pups. Each visit made our day and we are exceptionally grateful to everyone who took time out of their afternoon to stop by and visit. We gave away LOTS of free "hooman" treats and biscuits and there was plenty to go around. Both "hoomans" and pups enjoyed their treats.
Overall, it was a great afternoon and it went by much too fast. We didn't have nearly the amount of traffic as we did at our July Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale. It's October. To be expected. The yard sale crowd tends to lessen once the summer months are behind us. We'll have to get more creative next year.
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our Bodacious Community and beyond for making Saturday possible and for your continued support. Every single effort matters. It makes a difference. It's WHY we're able to continue our mission. As the saying goes, "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together..." Our Bodacious Community is proof!
A special thank you to Bob, Richard, Jayber, June, Ryan, Char, Kim, and Shelly for helping us with setup, take down, hauling stuff away and everything between. We couldn't have done it without you.
