I've mentioned many times that our biscuits are both pup and "hooman" friendly. We snack on our biscuits too. In the wee hours of the morning, while baking, when the hunger pangs rumble in my tummy, I'll reach for a biscuit or two. Slather a lil' peanut butter on and...it makes for a great snack. In addition, most of the "hooman" baked goods I whip up are pup friendly too. I say "most" because once in a while, I make chocolate brownies, chocolate chip cookies, etc. Chocolate is a HUGE no-no for the fur-kids.

It's just another crazy, bodacious week here at the biscuit household. Baking started first thing on Monday and by yesterday, we were out the door delivering biscuit love to the Ledyard Pound. We also made a special Bodacious Biscuit Love basket for sweet Freida and whipped up fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The "hoomans" need cookie love too. Tomorrow we'll be delivering more biscuit love to the sweet pound pups at NECCOG.

The other night I broke every rule in my "bodacious kitchen law" book. I made apple crisp in August. This is a dessert I make during the fall and winter months. By spring, we're sick of it. During the summer months, I don't even want to think about apple crisp. However, a neighbor friend gave us a bag of fresh picked, early autumn Wabi Sabi apples. I needed to use 'em up. I don't like to waste food. Later that afternoon, Lisa peeled the apples, removed the bruises, diced and...I made apple crisp. The apple scraps went to the chickens across the street.

It's already started. The back to school photos plastered on my Facebook news feed. 'Tis the season. It'll likely go on through Labor Day. Which, by the way, happens to be right around the corner. And, what's this I see? M&M's came out with a Pumpkin Spiced Latte flavor. Dunkin Donuts...is their Pumpkin shit out yet? Did I see yellow leaves on the tree across the street. And Mums are on sale at Big Y this week?

Sunday night. I'm still in go-go-go mode. Earlier today I got about 8 hours of work caught up and completed. I made a scrumptious dinner. I baked apple crisp. Above all, I breathed a sigh of relief. Whatever it was that kicked my ass for an entire week had appeared to have exited my system. Energy restored. Back on track.

Have you ever frequented someplace for a long time and suddenly notice something that had been there all along? Upon discovery, you wonder why you're just noticing it now. I experienced that moment last night. It was kind of cool.

Every year, for our wedding anniversary, and other special occasions, I make a special dessert. By special, I'm referring to a dessert requiring more time & steps than what I normally have the patience for. I'm a simple girl. A little of this. A cup of that. Mix. Pour, roll, press into pan. Bake. Plate it up. Take a photo or two. Done.

It's Wednesday. I've done nothing. Biscuits aren't made. The guilt is weighing heavy, however, the simplest of tasks is sucking what little energy I have from my body. I needed a nap after making a cup of tea. No joke. Today is Coco's 3 year anniversary with us and making his cupcakes took all afternoon. Hours. Whipping up one of his favorite dinners required a half hour rest period between each item. I feel like the world's worst Mom and wife.

Earlier this summer an acquaintance of mine reached out asking for some homemade, budget friendly doggy treat gift ideas. She had been invited to a coworker's house for a doggy birthday party. It was a small gathering of coworkers, friends and the pup-of-honor. In the weeks prior, party planning was "the talk of the office." Posh. All the bells and whistles. Specialty cake being made by a gourmet dog bakery.

Yesterday we mentioned making a special biscuit run to a location we've been shipping biscuits to for almost a year now. A few people asked, "What is a biscuit run?" We've used that term quite a bit. Let me start off by saying it has nothing to do with running sneakers, a sports bra, or wicking performance fabric. It has everything to do with us personally delivering biscuits to locations we typically ship to because these animal shelters are further away.

We've spent the last 3 days baking 'round the clock because for the next 3 days, we're delivering LOTS of biscuit love! Yesterday, we stocked our displays for our Bodacious Community. Today, we're delivering biscuit love, and a lil' "hooman" treat love, to a couple of our local animal shelters. "Hoomans" need cookie love too! And tomorrow, we're making a special biscuit run to a location we've been shipping biscuit love to for almost a year now.

I'll be the first to admit, at times, having the same name can make things a wee bit difficult. This morning, it took over 5 minutes to write up a Happy Birthday post on our Bodacious Biscuit Love Facebook wall. Why? I couldn't just say, "Happy Birthday, Lisa!" Well, which Lisa? It just didn't seem fitting to write, "Happy Birthday to the short-haired Lisa" or "Happy Birthday to the Lisa with the most gray hairs..."

Dear Lady at Target Who Made The Snarky Comment,
Yeah. We heard you. Wait. Let's back up a bit. That's not a proper way to begin a letter now is it? Ahem. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lisa. My wife's name is Lisa too.
Yes, we've heard of Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam. Yes, we're aware of the challenges that accompany having the same name. No, we don't have the same last name...yet. Yes, things will get confusing when we finally do.

Hi! My name is Minion. I am a rescue dog from Texas. I was in a kill shelter there and a wonderful organization called Alamo Rescue Friends came and took me away on the day that I was to be “Euthanized”. I don’t know what that means but it sounds scary!! These nice people brought me to a very nice lady who owned a farm. There were lots of animals and other dogs there. She provided me with a nice comfy place to sleep, good food and lots of snuggles and love!

As most of you know, all 3 of our fur-kids are rescues. In the middle of August, 3 years ago, we adopted our Coco bug. Last year, early summer, our sweet Sophie took her freedom ride with us as a foster. This past April her adoption became official. And, Lil' Lobo. He came to us as a foster January of this year, the day after his surgery to remove one of his hind legs. After 2 weeks, we knew. The call was made. We adopted him.

In May, something happened. It changed me. Us. We assisted in a local rescue involving two senior pups. The rescue was emotional. Lots of puzzle pieces didn't fit. But, the plea from a trusted source tugged at our heartstrings. I couldn't shake it. Despite post after post, there were no immediate replies or solutions. Senior pups. Not exactly the most desirable for "most" rescue groups.

Earlier today we traveled down to the New London Pound to deliver biscuit love and donate canned dog food. This lil' cutie, sweet baby Liv, is on a soft-food-only diet for the next two weeks. She's a hungry girl! The pound is going through quite a bit of canned food and the shelves are emptying quick. We grabbed all the cans we had stashed in our biscuit room and zoomed on down to New London.

We've been spreading the biscuit love for almost 2 years now. Within that time frame, I have lost count how many visits we've made to our local shelters. Typically, we frequent the shelters closest to our home, however, on occasion we take a vacation day and make a biscuit run. This allows us to visit shelters further away...the ones we ship Boxes O' Biscuits to.

We read stories day after day of irresponsible "hoomans" leaving their dogs in hot cars. Thankfully, more and more people are speaking up and taking action. Instead of walking by a car with a dog inside and doing nothing, people are stopping, calling their local law enforcement or animal control officers and these dogs are being rescued. Owners are being punished. Laws are becoming stricter.

Not all pups like apparel. Our Coco bug runs in the other direction at the site of dog apparel. We've tried coaxing him into a t-shirt or pet costume with treats and chew toys. Nope. Even if it's for a minute or two to snap a photo. Nope. Sweet Sophie is a little more lenient in the apparel department, however, she has her limits. Although bribing isn't necessary, the look on her face tells all. Lil' Lobo is complete opposite. He has no issues with apparel or costumes.

I used to be a candle addict. I had several cupboards filled with Yankee Candles, locally made artisan candles and an assortment I had received as gifts. Back then, up-cycling and re-purposing hadn't surfaced in popularity. Pinterest didn't exist. When the candles dwindled down to the last bit of scented wax, I threw the jars away. I'm slightly ashamed to admit I've probably thrown enough jars away to fill several swimming pools.

Yesterday afternoon we delivered biscuit love to these cuties at the Preston Pound here in Connecticut. Hands down, this is one of our favorite aspects about Bodacious Biscuit Love. If money wasn't an issue (aka winning the lottery), we'd spend a good portion of the week visiting our local shelters here in Connecticut. Complete with a Mini Van with our logo. The back loaded solid with biscuits and much needed items.
