The Countdown Has Begun For Our Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale

The countdown has begun. It's Tuesday. In a few short days, we'll be hosting our annual Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale. Exhaustion is setting in. We're guzzling the coffee. On top of our event, we launched a fundraiser offering GIGANTIC homemade, heart-shaped "hooman" chocolate chip cookies to raise funds to assist someone from our Bodacious Community in need. We're baking 'round the clock, both pup and "hooman" treats, picking up donations, organizing and pricing yard sale donations, tending to last minute details, etc.

We're not complaining.

It's our choice to do what we do. We made that decision a long time ago. There is never a dull moment. Nothing ever goes as planned regardless of articulate planning and organization. Despite ample time frames and deadlines, we expect to be go-go-go at the last minute. And, it never fails, my right foot will stomp hard Friday night, when I tell Lisa, "Go to bed nowwwwwww....." I'm used to the 'round the clock work load and sporadic sleep schedule. She isn't.

This week won't fare any smoother than other weeks when we have events...especially our own. To be expected. It's inevitable. I am willing to bet, at the end of this week, we'll be rushing around contending to last minute details. And, maybe, on Friday evening, when we should be unwinding (the operative word being should), we'll be scampering from room to room ironing out every last detail. This goes out first. These last. Full setup by this time. Check signs. Grab breakfast because I'll be damned if I'm making it.

Oh, and you've got ten minutes to shower between full setup and start time.

By 9 p.m. we'll have our pivotal moment when we throw up our hands and belt out, "If it's not made. If it's not priced. If it's not in this load to go out. So be it. What's done is done. It's good enough. There's always October when we have our Bodacious Fall Fling...."

Once again, we're not complaining. This is a labor of love and we wouldn't have it any other way.
