A Bodacious Fundraiser Featuring Our Gigantic Heart-Shaped "Hooman" Cookies
Preparing for our Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale was hectic to say the very least. Amid the chaos we launched a special Bodacious Fundraiser to assist a special lady and her husband who have fallen on hard times. They're part of our Bodacious Community and Lisa and I wanted to help out. Most of us know all too well what it's like to experience hardships. Lisa and I are not excluded from this. We've both, at one time or another in the span of our life, have hit rock bottom financially. During these times, when friends and strangers reached out with a helping hand, we know all too well how their generosity helped us get through those trying times.
We learned that our friend had been frequenting the food bank. Although this route of assistance was extremely helpful, there was still a great need for various items. The food bank did not provide items like toiletries, cat littler, laundry soap, etc. And, with allergies and health concerns being an issue, items desperately needed were specific. Shortly after requesting a list of much needed items, my brain sifted through several options. The list was long. Our goal was to purchase all items on the list in multiples or obtain these items through donations. Think. Think. Think.
The decision was made. We were going to launch a fundraiser. We couldn't do this alone.
From July 16th until the 23rd, we offered our gigantic Bodacious heart-shaped "hooman" chocolate chip cookies for a $10 donation. Usually we write up a post when we launch fundraisers, however, between work, biscuit baking, and yard sale stuff, it slipped my mind.
Total. Dork. Moment.
After the initial post on my Facebook wall, people came forth with interest in purchasing a cookie or two. We had a few "hoomans" in N.H. who requested several cookies as well. We were more than happy to ship. In addition, several people came forward with products from the list we posted.
Last week, on the overnight, I baked heart-shaped cookies. We shipped and delivered on Wednesday and Thursday. The Friday before our yard sale, Lisa made the last of the deliveries, delivered biscuit love to 2 shelters and picked up a donation of goods.
Originally, we were going to deliver the goods today. However, we had two more donations roll in so we rescheduled for tomorrow late morning. Today we picked up the last of the donations and purchased items from the list with the money we raised. It was a proud moment for so many reasons...as it always is when we go through checkout.
Big. Huge. Smile.
We can't thank everyone enough for their generosity and taking the time to share out post. Without all of you, we couldn't have done this. Not only were we able to purchase all items from the list, we purchased multiples so there would be back stock. Tomorrow we're going to load up the car and make our delivery.
