I've spent the majority of the day getting ready for our event tomorrow. We'll be at the Quiet Corner Pet Party In The Park from 10-3...a wonderful event sponsored by the Plainfield Veterinary Hospital. Biscuits have been packaged. Our event gear (canopy, table, chairs, etc) was loaded into the car about an hour ago. I went through our event checklist twice. Donation jar. Check. Signs. Check. Banner. Check. Framed mission statement. Check. Lunch packed. We're good to go.

Over the 4th of July holiday, WINY Radio had updated their Facebook page with a video of the fireworks display at Owen Bell Park. Lisa and I had attended the display 3 years ago. It was...meh. Not the best display in the area. Nothing to write home about. Apparently, from the comments I read, their display has gotten worse over the past few years. People were replying with complaints. Some were quite harsh.

It's Wednesday and I'm in panic-mode. Lisa went back to work after taking 2 vacation days. While sipping my first cup of coffee and rummaging through the slew of Post-It Notes plastered on my desk, I began planning out my day and week. Week? Wait. It's not Monday. It's Wednesday. Shit. I'm already two days behind. The Quiet Corner Pet Party In The Park event is on Saturday. Three displays need to be restocked. We've got Biscuit Love to spread to the sweet shelter babies. I'm almost out of bags and labels. Double shit.

I remember our wedding day as if it were yesterday. Three years ago today. We stood face to face, read our vows and said, "I do." Our friends and family stood around us, took video and snapped photos. There were tears. Laughter. At the end, everyone raised their wine glasses and we toasted. At the end, after sealing the ceremony with a kiss, there was a huge round of applause.

Preparing for our Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale was hectic to say the very least. Amid the chaos we launched a special Bodacious Fundraiser to assist a special lady and her husband who have fallen on hard times. They're part of our Bodacious Community and Lisa and I wanted to help out. Most of us know all too well what it's like to experience hardships. Lisa and I are not excluded from this. We've both, at one time or another in the span of our life, have hit rock bottom financially. During these times, when friends and strangers reached out with a helping hand, we know all too well how their generosity helped us get through those trying times.

The day after our Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale...exhale! It's amazing what a solid, 8 hours of sleep can do for the mind, body and soul. Once awake and fully caffeinated, I tackled some much needed housework. Although I attempted to keep up with it last week, with all the yard sale donations rolling in, storing boxes of stuff in two rooms and CLUTTER, my efforts were fruitless. I. Despise. Clutter. I've been grinding my teeth over the past week and pulling my hair out. Clutter. Clutter. Clutter. And, I won't even mention the 10 pounds of grass I vacuumed up this morning from the carpets. With all the in and out activity we had during yesterday's event, there was enough grass tracked in to fill a several lawn and leaf bags.

We are beyond exhausted. Our goal was to have everything done by 6 p.m. last night so we could get a solid night's sleep before our Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale. If you've ever coordinated an event, you know nothing ever goes as planned. And, we expected just that. We had a few yard sale donations still rolling in early evening yesterday. Our counters and table were covered with baked goods for the "hoomans" ready to be packaged. At 8 p.m. we were still organizing and pricing items. Finally, when the clock hit 9 p.m., I told Lisa, "We've got enough. Go to bed. The rest we can use for our October Bodacious Fall Fling."

Earlier today, I was sitting at my desk tackling a little work stuff. My brain is fried. Lack of sleep. Too much coffee. It's Thursday. Our Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale is the day after tomorrow. One more full day to prepare and that's it. I'm running on fumes. Overload. Exhale. Lean head back in chair. Deep breath in. Exhale slowly.

Don't get me wrong, we welcome any and all suggestions, constructive criticisms, advice on how we could do things better, etc. As I've learned over the almost-decade of doing-what-I-do-for-work, it takes many sets of eyes to see the big picture clearly. Fresh eyes. Fresh ideas. Maybe we could do this instead of that. Public feedback often produces why-didn't-I-think-of-that moments. Lots of 'em Our ears are opened. We read emails and private messages. All are welcomed.

The countdown has begun. It's Tuesday. In a few short days, we'll be hosting our annual Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale. Exhaustion is setting in. We're guzzling the coffee. On top of our event, we launched a fundraiser offering GIGANTIC homemade, heart-shaped "hooman" chocolate chip cookies to raise funds to assist someone from our Bodacious Community in need. We're baking 'round the clock, both pup and "hooman" treats, picking up donations, organizing and pricing yard sale donations, tending to last minute details, etc.

On occasion, people will ask if we still offer our Bodacious Sandwich Cookies or the other flavors we experimented with over a year ago. Cranberry Oat. Blueberry Muffin. Carrot Cake. Banana Crunch. We'll admit, these flavors were exceptionally delicious to both pups and hoomans, however, after making 'em through all 4 seasons, we made the decision to stick with our simple Peanut Butter Dog Treats.

In our household, our fur-kids aren't fed anything one of us wouldn't eat. Their meals are made fresh. No store-bought food or treats. About 95% of the baked goods I whip up are pup friendly. The other 5%? Well, a girl needs her chocolate fix on occasion. What can I say?!

Our August calendar is filled and the 3rd Annual Woofstock event one of the events we'll be participating in . We can't even begin to tell you how excited we are. A huge thank you to the pawsome "hoomans" over at the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter in Branford, Connecticut for including us. Y'all rock the house and we are truly honored to be a part of this event.

Last summer, a friend of ours and her family were having a yard sale. To show our support, we stopped by. There was a huge selection of cake tins ranging from various sized circles and squares to Superhero characters. I spotted a gigantic heart-shaped cake tin and immediately scooped it up. It sat in the cupboard for a while. I don't make full sized cakes often...usually once or twice a year. We're all about the cupcakes in our household.

One of the many things we love about Bodacious Biscuit Love are the extraordinary "hoomans" we've met along the way. Whether it's our local Animal Control Officers or volunteers for various animal rescue organizations, it's been a pleasure getting to know these awesome "hoomans." During the past almost-two-years, our Bodacious Community has expanded far and wide all over the United States.

Last week, we launched a Bodacious Fun In The Sun Photo Contest! We had quite a few people submit photos of their pup/s enjoying the summer seasons. We loved 'em all! Friday through Sunday, voting was opened. And, Monday morning, we announced the winner. With over 40 likes, Peaches & Doozer came out on top with the most votes! Congratulations to these two cuties!

Three years ago today. It's one we'll never forget. On occasion, it comes up in conversation...especially during the summer months when "swamp ass" is in the forecast. Hazy. Hot. Humid. We giggle as we reminisce. However, three years ago, we weren't exactly giggling. At the time, there was nothing amusing about what was happening. And it all had to do with timing. The weather.

There are only a few things that excite me when fetching the mail. Unexpected packages. Bodacious Thank You cards and notes. And, wait for it, Bath & Body Works coupons. Yes. Those coupons for free products, 20% off purchases including their buy-3-get-3-free promotions and $10 off $20 have me doing cartwheels back to the front porch.

From May through December, we participate in local events. Hands down, it's one of the many things we enjoy most about Bodacious Biscuit Love. Attending events gives us the opportunity to expand our contacts, meet various rescue organizations and animal shelter staff and volunteers, meet some of our Bodacious community face to face, talk to the public about what we do, spread biscuit love to the many pups who visit our table, etc. It's a fun time all the way around and we are exceptionally grateful to those who reach out and invite us to these events. We couldn't do what we do without you.

Our news feed has been flooded with hoomans and pups enjoying summertime fun! So, why not have a Bodacious Fun In The Sun Photo Contest. It's been a long time since we've had a photo contest. We need to do something about that. It's time!

Although Lisa and I stay home on and around the 4th of July, that doesn't mean we don't plan fun stuff to do around the house. This year, we were going to fire up the grill, line up a few movies, break out the cards, possibly enjoy adult beverages with a couple of friends, tackle a few small projects, work on Bodacious Blankets, Bandanna & Tote Love, and whatever else struck our fancy. Sadly, the day before our 3 day weekend, that all changed.

On occasion, we treat our fur-kids to "hooman" ice cream, however, most of the time, we whip up homemade frozen dog treats. Our frozen treats are usually put in a big Tupperware container. We scoop out with a spoon onto individual plates. This prevents melty messes on the carpets and furniture.

For the past week or so, you've probably noticed your Facebook newsfeed flooded with Fourth of July pet safety tips. More pets go missing this time of year than any other. July 5th is the busiest day for ACO's and animal shelters. Why? Unlike us hoomans, dogs don't view fireworks as fun and celebratory. To them, it's frightening. They are terrified of the flashes, noises and odor of pyrotechnics. Your pooch will go to great lengths to hide or escape from the ruckus.

A couple of months ago, Lisa and I were chattin' about our upcoming wedding anniversary. Due to work schedules, Bodacious Biscuit Love and everything between, planning is a must. The first thing we decided on is when to celebrate...the weekend before or after. We opted for the weekend before. And the second item on the table? After tossing around some ideas on what to do, we came up with THIS! Lisa and I share passion for rescue, fostering, spreading the biscuit love, providing much needed items for local animal shelters, etc. We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary than to host a Bodacious Yard & Bake Sale to raise money so we can pay it forward to the local shelter animals in need.

We're extremely fortunate our fur-kids don't suffer from food allergies. We make all of their meals from scratch. Treats too. They all have food preferences. Coco isn't a huge fan of raw fruits and vegetables, however, he's addicted to raw carrots. Sophie won't eat raw blueberries. She'll only eat bananas if they're mashed. Lobo...we haven't found he food he doesn't like.
