Fruits And Vegetables That Are Snack-A-Licious And Healthy For Your Dog

Most people know we don't purchase store bought treats or dog food. Often times we're asked, "Aside from your biscuits, what else do you give your fur-kids for snack?" Although our fur-kids snack on our biscuits, we provide them with a variety of other snacks. Greek yogurt is a favorite and, of course, peanut butter. However, the majority of their snacks are fresh fruits and vegetables...both raw and cooked. Sophie and Lobo are not picky when it comes to fresh produce.

Coco...well, the standing joke in this house is he's a lot like Lisa. I have to disguise his produce.

What are some of their favorites and are these noshes good for them?

Cantaloupe - This tasty fruit is loaded with lots of vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin B-6, potassium, folate and niacin.

Green Beans - Now here's a vegetable powerhouse for your pup! Green beans are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, copper, fiber, iron, niacin, riboflavin, beta carotene and more!

Bananas - Lobo and Sophie go crazy for bananas and that's okay with us! Bananas are packed with nutrients including protein, vitamin B-6, fiber, potassium, iron, vitamin C, vitamin A, folate and magnesium.

Apples - I don't mind sharing my apples with our fur-kids. They're packed with antioxidants and lots of vitamin C.

Pumpkin - This is one vegetable that all 3 or our fur-kids enjoy. We mix it in with their dinner or stir in with Greek yogurt. Pumpkin is a good source of fiber, antioxidants and Vitamin A.

Cranberries - Sometimes we'll bake up a batch of our biscuits with dried cranberries or add minced dried cranberries to their Greek yogurt and dinner. Both Sophie and Lobo will eat them plain. Cranberries are great for urinary tract health, and have an abundance of vitamins A, B, C and K, calcium and antioxidants.

There's lots more fresh produce that's healthy for your pups and make for fabulous snacks...
