Did you know that this week is Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week? First and foremost, we want to give a huge shout out to our incredible Animal Control Officers. We've had the opportunity to meet quite a few here in Connecticut and we are exceptionally grateful our paths crossed. And, we want to thank them for not only allowing us to visit with the sweet pound pups and being involved, but for all they do.
Animal Control Officers are in the front lines. The see the worst of the worst and, at times, the unimaginable. Yet, day after day, they continue to be the voice of the voiceless. They have dedicated their lives to protecting and putting in the greatest of efforts to ensure the safety and well being of all animals.
Although this week is dedicated to extending gratitude and recognizing our Animal Control Officers, we need to show our love and support year-round. Stop by your local animal shelter, meet the local Animal Control Officers, and get involved. Whether it's volunteering an hour or two a week or getting a list of much needed items to pass around, it's appreciated. Animal shelters run on very limited budgets. They're always in need of food, toys, treats, blankets and cleaning supplies. Or, bake a homemade treat for the volunteers and staff. They work hard and help to keep the shelters up and running.
Cindy Eilenberger at Ledyard C.H.A.I.N. created this phenomenal video to honor the Ledyard Animal Control. It's one of the best videos we've seen. Total. Kleenex. Moment. You may recognize a few of the photos and, of course, our Lil' Lobo was included. It's a touching video paying tribute to the animals rescued, fostered, and adopted.
"For your long hours, sleepless nights, times of joy, and moments of heartbreak. For being a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves and putting the safety of the animals and your community first...thank you!"
