They say a situation can't be seen in its entirety until you've distanced or removed yourself from it. Epiphanies surface gradually and finally, one day, it's right there in front of you in all of its modest grandeur. Reactions vary. They're all over the charts. Some stand in silence. In awe. Others may fall to their knees. Of course, there are those who are quite vocal. There is no right or wrong when it comes to seeing "the big picture" for the first time.

Last year, a friend of ours gave us a small bag of homemade sweet potato dog chews. She had received them from someone she knew who made and sold these tasty chews. I was a little skeptical. Prior to receiving these, I wasn't too familiar with this type of treat or even sure our fur-kids would enjoy them. However, they're all natural, healthy and made by a known source. Long story short, our fur-kids (even Coco who is not a fan of produce) were head over paws for Sweet Potato Dog Chews.

I look back on this past week and it's been a mix of crazy, stressful (more on that later), busy and sweet. It's one of those weeks where I feel as if I've accomplished nothing, but when I look back, that's not the case. We shipped and delivered biscuits to 5 shelters and a sweet pup named Daisy. She was adopted from the Humane Society by two phenomenal people. We also received donations to rev up our Bodacious Blankets, Bandannas, Bands and Totes. So far, we have fabric, a small sewing machine, sewing supplies and a monetary donation to purchase much needed supplies. I can't even begin to express how grateful we are. Next weekend we'll be setting up and moving forth in that area. We're delayed a week with that, but, the reason behind the delay...well, it speaks for itself.

I really want to start this post off with, "If I received a dime every time someone mentioned they couldn't find where to order biscuits on our site, we could buy a few jars of peanut butter." However, as I replay that cliche in my head, it leans towards...well, rude. We're not rude people. So, we'll start by saying, people write in to let us know there isn't a designated area on our site to order biscuits.

I've mentioned the term Wabi Sabi on many occasions. A few have come forth and inquired about this term. Is this a word we made up? Does Wabi Sabi really exist? What is it? Wabi Sabi exists. Although a silly sounding term, this philosophy has been around for centuries.

Most people know we don't purchase store bought treats or dog food. Often times we're asked, "Aside from your biscuits, what else do you give your fur-kids for snack?" Although our fur-kids snack on our biscuits, we provide them with a variety of other snacks. Greek yogurt is a favorite and, of course, peanut butter. However, the majority of their snacks are fresh fruits and vegetables...both raw and cooked. Sophie and Lobo are not picky when it comes to fresh produce.

Almost 2 years ago we made the decision to put my 25+ years of baking experience to good use. We started baking homemade dog treats to donate to animal shelters and offer our Bodacious Community. Every bag has helped us pay it forward to the shelter pups in need. Week after week after week, we send Bodacious Boxes O' Biscuit Love to the sweet shelter babies. And, we also launch Bodacious Fundraisers, offering both dog biscuits and "hooman" cookies, so we can purchase much needed items for our local animal shelters like blankets, toys, food, treats, cleaning supplies and to assist with medical costs. It's been quite the journey and we're not looking back. Face forward. Onward march. There are so many shelters and our goal, eventually, is to reach all the shelters here in Connecticut and beyond.

Did you know that this week is Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week? First and foremost, we want to give a huge shout out to our incredible Animal Control Officers. We've had the opportunity to meet quite a few here in Connecticut and we are exceptionally grateful our paths crossed. And, we want to thank them for not only allowing us to visit with the sweet pound pups and being involved, but for all they do.

If you were to walk through our home, it wouldn't take long to figure out we're pet parents. Every single room has something fur-kid related. The 'comfort zone' crate in the office decked out with blankets, a pet pillow and plush toys. A huge basket filled with doggy toys. Throw blankets. Pet pillows. Chew bones, toys, Nylabones and Kongs on the floors. Doggy beds. The "Dog Nook" in the kitchen that houses 2 shelves loaded with supplies and a place to hang pup apparel. A leash holder with treat jar. And, the Bodacious Biscuit Love biscuit room.

Last week, French, a sweet pup from the New London Pound, made an announcement. He asked our Bodacious Community and beyond to post or send Easter Bunny Pup photos. Ask and you shall receive, sweet boy. Our Bodacious Biscuit Love Facebook page was plastered with photos. Pups in costume, bunny ears, enjoying their Easter biscuits, etc. We loved it!

Today, we delivered Bodacious Easter Baskets to several local shelters and Lobo (the sweet lil' nugget of love pictured above) was our delivery assistant. Without thinking, we scheduled our Easter run on Good Friday. It's a holiday and most shelters were closed. Total dork moment on my part. A few deliveries were rescheduled. On Monday, we'll be shipping out some Easter packages to the sweet pound pups who's locations were beyond our route.

Today we did what some might consider "the unthinkable." We cut the cord. Cable. We had been talking about it for quite awhile. I'm not even sure who mentioned it first. Or when. As the weeks and months rolled on, the topic began to surface more frequently. It was usually during what little time we sat and watched TV. Very little captured our interest. Repeats. Maybe it was our timing.
