A Little Bodacious Throwback Thursday Love

We've been attempting to keep up with the Throw Back Thursdays on Facebook. Some weeks, there is so much going on we...well...ah...forget. The guilt to follow...there is some. After all, going through the hundreds of photos and posts, we are reminded of WHY we do what we do. This Thursday, unlike any other, we decided to feature a baby "hooman."

Bodacious Blizzard Photo Contest

The blizzard of 2015 has come and gone. Mother Nature dumped slightly over 2 feet of snow in our neck of the woods. That's enough for me. Some areas saw more. Some less. Both Lisa and I have lived through worse storms. But, snow is snow. And, we're both ready for spring.

Keeping Your Dog Safe During A Blizzard

What was only supposed to be a few inches of snow has turned into a blizzard warning for the entire state of Connecticut. The pandemonium is picking up. People are rushing to the stores for bread and milk. Store shelves are empty. A few gas stations have run out of gas. Home Depot is packed. While I will admit we completed our grocery shopping early and filled the car with gas, there is no panic on our end. The thought of being snowed in for a couple of days sounds quite blissful.

Our First Bodacious Fundraiser Of 2015

Last year we had quite a few Bodacious Fundraisers and, with the generosity and stellar teamwork from our Bodacious Community, we were able to purchase food, toys, blankets, cleaning supplies and other necessities for local animal shelters. I can't even begin to describe how awesome it feels to walk into a store, purchase these items and deliver the goods to the shelters. During checkout, while we're emptying the cart, I look at Lisa with the biggest smile on my face and say, "We did this." And by "we" I'm referring to our incredible Bodacious Community.

Are You A Local Artisan That Specializes In Pet Products?

Over the past year, we've attended and participated in quite a few fundraisers and events. I'll be the first to admit, preparing for these events is a lot of work and involves several days of non-stop baking and preparation however, it's worth it. Not only is this an opportunity for us to get the word out there about Bodacious Biscuit Love, it's our chance to meet some wonderful people who are doing and making some rather cool stuff.

A Little Guidance When Introducing Your Dog To A New Addition

For the longest time, we were convinced Coco was an "only dog" kinda dog. Given the situation he was rescued from and the happenings at the establishment where he resided for a few months prior to us adopting him, understandably so. On occasion, we talked about adopting Coco a sister. Once or twice we almost went to the next level. However, we accepted what was and embraced our tiny family.

Homemade Pill Pocket Recipe

If you've ever had to give your dog a pill or two...well, I'm sure you're aware of the challenges surrounding that endeavor. We've all got a few tricks up our sleeves. Some, we have attempted ourselves. From hiding the pill in a tiny peanut butter sandwich all the way to shaping American cheese around the pill. Been there. Done that. At first our attempts to disguise the pill worked however, we were quickly reminded just how smart our fur-kids are. The "hooman" food is swallowed while the pill makes a ka-put noise on the floor.

A Little Biscuit Love At the Villalobos Rescue Center

Lisa and I have always been a fan of Pit Bulls & Parolees on Animal Planet. Since adopting our Coco bug almost 3 years ago, we've had to alter our viewing times or mute the television throughout the show. He has a habit of perching himself up on the TV console and barking at the dogs. One of these days, I'll video this comical behavior of his.

Connecticut Anti-Tethering Law & Cold Weather Safety For Dogs

Here in Connecticut, and much of New England, the temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits and below zero. Tomorrow night, the windchill could reach THIRTY below. The first word that came to mind when I read that was dangerous...not just for us "hoomans" but for your fur-babies as well.

10 Tips For Baking Up Scrumptious Homemade Dog Treats

Now, more than ever, people are ditching the excuses and opting to make their own dog treats. I can't say I blame them. While there are a few decent and reputable brands amid the endless selection, there's too much garbage sitting on the store shelves, recalls, dogs getting sick and dying from tainted treats, etc. In addition, there are ingredients which upset sensitive, and even not-so-sensitive, tummies, like fillers, artificial flavors, artificial colors, etc. When you open a package of store bought treats, it's a gamble. In this household, it's not one we're willing to take.
