The Cans For Cookies Drive Was A Huge Success

On August 20th we teamed up with All About The Animals Relief Foundation and launched a Cans For Cookies Drive. Our goal was to collect 200 cans of dog food in 10 days for Neccog Animal Shelter. In the past, when we've launched fundraisers for local shelters, it's revolved around our biscuits. This time around, we wanted to do something different. Instead of baking our peanut butter dog treats, we shifted our focus on "hooman" cookies. Fresh. Baked. Chocolate. Chip. Cookies.

We kept it simple. Donate 3 or more cans of dog food and get a half dozen cookies as a thank you. I'll be honest, I wasn't sure if we'd have a decent turnout. There's a big difference between raising money to purchase items and asking people to purchase the items. Within a couple of days, my skepticism cleared. The response was overwhelming. Cans started trickling in. We received a slew of messages from people who were interested in donating cans of dog food.

Within 4 days we had exceeded 100 cans/pouches of dog food. People from all over Connecticut, Massachusetts and even Maine were donating cans of food. We even received a gift card and a monetary donation to purchase food as covering the cost to ship cans is extremely costly.

We were especially grateful for the kids who contributed to our Cans For Cookies Drive. It was refreshing to see kids take interest in such a great cause and donate cans of dog food for the shelter pups.

The Cans For Cookies Drive ran through August 30th. Although we didn't officially announce it, we extended it through August 31st. Most of the donations have been collected although there are a few more we'll be picking up this coming week.

When communities of people come forth and join forces, beautiful things happen. With the help of many and a great deal of teamwork, we collected close to 300 cans/pouches of dog food. In addition, we had a few bags of dry food and dog treats donated to us as well.

We'll be loading up the car and delivering to Neccog in the next couple of days. We want to extend a huge thank you to those who helped make our Cans For Cookies Drive successful. Whether you donated, shared our updates, spread the word or assisted with transporting donations, it made all the difference in the world.
