Schlumpy And Sick...Yet Extraordinary

It happens. Once in a blue moon. Us "hoomans" have an off day. You know it's going to happen shortly after you wake up and your feet hit the floor. Regardless of the effort put forth to turn it around or rise above...it's just not happening.

That was the case earlier today. It's safe to say it started as early as Friday morning. Typically, they day before an event, I'm pumped. I spend very little, if any, time at the desk. You'll find me in the kitchen with a case of the zoomies...putting the final touches on biscuits, swizzling, filling sandwich cookies, labeling, packaging, etc. We love participating in events.

Thursday I felt slightly under the weather. Maybe exhaustion...something an extra hour or two of sleep could have pacified. Nope. Friday I woke up and immediately knew. Cold symptoms. Beach ball head. Fatigue. Dizziness. Ugh! Even with a continuous stream of medicine I couldn't find my rhythm. After an hour or so in the kitchen, I was ready for a nap. Back and forth.

I got a few hours of sleep before it was time to get up. Still no rhythm. There was a long commute ahead. Even after coffee and little breakfast..nothing. I felt as if I had already done a day's worth of hard labor. And, I had forgotten my cold medicine and phone at home.

The event was on pavement and the sun was beating down. Normally, I'd welcome a good dose of vitamin D however, it was just draining me even more. Within an hour of the event, I had come to the sad conclusion that we weren't going to stay for the entire 7 hours. There was no way I could do it. I lasted for about 3 hours.

I hated taking down our setup early and leaving. The people at RoseHope Animal Refuge were wonderful and we were grateful that they had invited us. They were extremely gracious and told us to go...get home and get better. That's exactly what we did. Once home, I took a dose of medicine and crashed for almost 4 hours.

On a positive note...despite a pesky summer cold kicking my butt, it was an extraordinary day. Remember the photo posted the other day of this lil' nugget? Today, it was made official. We have a new addition to our lil' family. Welcome home, Sophie!
